IQ Glass — Spotlight on Wales

Written by Taylor Hall-Jones

An Overview of Our Projects in Wales

At IQ Glass we design and install a huge variety of glazing from the south of England, Midlands, North and even internationally. Throughout the history of IQ we have seen a steady number of projects in Wales be completed with IQ glazing systems in place.

With Wales being so diverse in its landscape and weather it is always an interesting challenge for our delivery and installation teams to complete the projects at hand. Despite this, our teams have fully installed a huge variety of glazing systems in Wales protecting the building owners from the heavy weather changes that they experience.

Our delivery team recently undertook a tricky delivery to the Welsh countryside which meant that large structural glazing panes has to be driven across a river with no set road. You can see the video of the installation here!

A handful of our favourite Welsh projects can be seen here:

Plas Glyn - An Art Gallery Glass Extension

IQ worked with Mark Wray Architects to complete an ultra-unique addition to the oldest art gallery in Wales. Invisio structural glass was specified for this extension project that has allowed for a café to be built as part of the gallery’s experience. The glazing was installed as it has been tested to withstand the heavy winds on the Welsh coast. Our marine grade coating was also used to guarantee that any salt water would not rust the frames and effect the system performance. See the full case study here.

Silver House - Luxury Architecture With Modern Glazing

This award-winning home in Swansea features a vast span of architectural glazing designed and installed by IQ Glass.

The open-plan living room has two facades of slim-frame sliding glass doors that were built to give exclusive access to the enormous balcony that wraps around the building, providing a first-rate view of the breathtaking surroundings.

These doors were installed with a slim 21mm sight line to provide the homeowners with stunning views of their surroundings.

Forty Farm - Timber Framed Glazing

Situated on an estate spanning over 80 acres, Forty Farm is an opulent residence featuring six bedrooms, numerous reception areas, a swimming pool, and a spacious basement gym. All of the architectural glass elements on this property were designed and installed by IQ Glass, giving the amazing, traditional-looking house light-filled living areas. The otherwise traditional, timber-framed home has a modern edge thanks to the aluminium-framed windows and doors placed throughout.

Numerous ground floor locations on the site have our minimal windows sliding glass doors installed. By combining the indoor and outdoor spaces, installing these sliding doors not only maximises the amount of natural light entering the house, but it also helps homeowners make the most of their outdoor living space.

Aberystwyth Band Stand - A Community Based Glazing Project

IQ Projects worked on a well-known landmark on the Aberystwyth coast. Compared to the original building, the refurbishment of this communal area was planned with a larger and more prominent motif. The original design was abandoned by the council due to the elevated expenditures involved, following criticism that it was excessively modern and costly.

The installation was managed and overseen by our extremely talented installers and committed project manager. As usual, the installation was completed to a very high standard and is an essential component of such a significant historical item and a distinguished building.

The beach front glazing creates a glass façade that makes the building appear more comfortable and offers inside spaces that can host concerts or activities. Because of the thin frames, which let in an abundance of natural light and allowed the aperture to open fully when the bifold doors are opened, aluminium bi-fold doors were specified.
