See why architect Nicolas Tye chooses to specify IQ Glass

We spoke to Nicolas Tye, director at Tye Architects, to find out why they choose to specify IQ Glass for the glazing on their projects. We have worked closely with Tye Architects, providing bespoke glazing packages to suit each individual project. Keep reading to see what Nicolas Tye said about working with IQ Glass.

What do you think are the most important factors for an architect when choosing a glazier?

"Quality, design detail, performance and of course cost. The quality of the systems and designs are of paramount importance to us, whereas the cost is mainly a focus for the client."

Why have you chosen to work with IQ on projects?

"I find that the glazing systems from IQ provide a great balance of quality, performance and cost, as well as showing a good level of detail throughout the design process and when we have had to adapt the systems to meet specific requirements or performance values."

What is your favourite product within the IQ offering?

"I can’t just choose one! Some of my favourite door systems are the slim framed sliding glass doors, steel looks aluminium doors from the Sieger legacy range and the thermally broken MHB steel doors. Other favourites would be the Invisio structural glazing system as it accommodates endless design possibilities and the MARS rooflight due to its innovative design and functionality. When it comes to our clients, slim framed sliding doors are always the favourite."

Why should clients invest money into the architectural glazing on their project?

"Understandably, cost is a big consideration for our clients. I think the robustness of the products and systems should be the primary consideration, as you want the glazing to be durable and like with most other things in life, you really do get what you pay for."

What would you advise clients to look for in an architectural glazier?

"It's always good to trust recommendations, from completed installations and projects. We always advise clients to work with a glazier who has proven experience and good quality systems. Support is also important, as you need a company you can go to with any questions or queries at any stage in the project."
