Opening the Door on Barn Conversions

Written by Rebecca Clayton

How to Improve Natural Light in Narrow Properties
In 2012 the government welcomed an external review of its planning policies by Lord Taylor. The findings, amongst other things, should open up the possibility for more rural barn conversions.

These large, open-plan buildings create fantastic home offices, gyms, home renovations and garden rooms depending on their size. One thing barns lack though is an allowance for natural light. Here large glass sliding doors, such as those from IQ Glass, can fit into the openings of these traditional buildings, bringing in large amounts of natural light.

See below some examples of IQ’s glazing on barn conversions:

Basing Farm

Bi-parting large glass sliding doors slide over the external face of this old barn opening up the whole door.
