IQ can provide glazing CAD details for many of our bespoke solutions, such as our Invisio structural glazing system and our roof glazing CAD details. We now have the latest addition, our Glass and Timber CAD Details Library!

When specifying architectural glazing and timber, there are many ways the two materials can be combined, timber cladding can be used alongside the architectural glazing, the glazing can be fitted into a timber structure or aluminium glazing and wooden beams can be used for a more traditional design.

There are certain limitations with this, but our skilled technical sales and design team can work closely with the architects on the job to achieve a design that meets every project requirement.

minimally framed glazing and timber homeOne of the most complex ways to use architectural glazing and timber is to install the glazing systems into a timber structure.

There are a few key design considerations when specifying architectural glazing into a timber structure, such as the timber warping over time and due to changes in the weather. IQ’s architectural glazing system are designed to withstand a certain level of deflection, but anything over this may cause damage.

Our new Glass and Timber CAD Details Library includes examples of slim framed, aluminium sliding doors and minimally framed aluminium windows with timber surrounding structures.

For more information regarding key considerations when specifying architectural glazing into a timber structure, check out our technical advice article on the topic.
