The lightweight aluminium profiles are ergonomically designed to be opened one handed throughout its lifetime. Each system is tested to 20,000 cycles, projecting a use of 13 times a week for 30 years to ensure that the systems have full life longevity with no wearing or degradation in ease of use. In fact the system has been awarded with ‘Ease of Use’ category 1!
With the new Building regulations coming into effect this summer thermal performance will be a major deciding factor for any new build or renovation from 2013 onwards. IQ Bi Fold systems can achieve a Uw value of 1.1 W/m2K with a triple glazed unit and 1.3 W/m2K with a double glazed solution.
The Sliding Folding system is the only available Bi Fold system that fully insulates its framing. Extra insulating material is packed into each framing profile to fully insulate all cavity spaces and air pockets within the frame itself against extremes in temperatures, condensation internally and thermal efficiency. This allows IQ’s system to boast the best thermal performance in its class.

The Engineering and design with these systems are always being pushed and bettered to create larger glass facades that can be completely slide away effortlessly. Our sliding folding panels within the system can now reach dimensions of 3m high by 1m wide per panel, creating a much preferred glass to frame ratio.
But there is no point having these large panels if the system cannot handle the weight. Each wheel carriage is designed and tested to take a load of over 100kg and all bearings, fixings and components are made of the highest quality stainless steel to withstand the rigorous testing procedures. These systems can also achieve a security rating of RC2/RC2N as required.

The Bi Fold system has always been tested to the highest degree surviving hurricane winds, pressure tests at over 1200 Pa and 250mph winds to ensure the sliding folding unit is an full and effective barrier to the external forces of nature as and when required.
The paint finish is even finished to marine grade as standard, with a powder coat finish of 70-75 microns thick. Although we would always recommend that any properties within 5 miles of a coastal environment opt to have the frames pre-anodized and powder coated to protect these highly engineered frames from the harsh chemicals and salts in a marine environment.

In short, IQ’s sliding folding units are designed to work and perform from conception on paper and are expected to pass all relevant tests before manufacture meaning we can push and expand the expected standards from these systems. Why settle for less?
