IQ’s prestigious and award-winning glazing project Edge Hill is now listed for sale with Sanderson Young. The architecturally designed 5-bedroom home is situated in the exclusive area of Darras Hall in Ponteland and showcases an excellent example of architectural glazing in Newcastle.
The building was designed by Sutherland Hussey Architects with minimal architectural glazing from IQ. The impressive architectural design was shortlisted for various architectural awards after its completion including the RIBA North East Project of the Year Award 2016, RIBA Regional Award 2016, and RIBA North East Client of the Year Award 2016. It was also featured on Grand Designs House of Year and was the only project to showcase this type of minimal glazing in Newcastle.
Minimally framed glazing dominates the rear elevation with the ground floor living areas and upper floor bedrooms benefiting from our floor to ceiling minimal framed sliding glass doors. Frameless balustrades to the upper bedroom balcony ensure that this ‘all glass’ design is not interrupted and that you maintain an excellent external connection from the bedroom spaces.
A double height hallway runs from the entrance to the rear garden creating an impressive impression on entry. This hallway is bracketed by double height windows on either end with a pivoting opening at the base for access.
Clever use of frameless windows throughout the build makes the most of the elevated site, offering excellent views from all rooms.
As well as architectural slimline glazing from IQ the house also includes a Poggenpohl kitchen with Gaggenau appliances, polished concrete and solid wide board oak flooring, intelligent programmable lighting throughout, underfloor heating and impressive Welsh slate bathrooms with Phillipe Starck fittings. It is house full of the biggest names in modern architecture and design.
The introduction of architectural glazing into the design ensures this house has the one biggest draw for new house buyers: natural light. The entire house has direct access to natural light, making this house breathe with a feeling of openness and light.
You can arrange a viewing of the house for sale from Sanderson Young.
