Oversized glass technology expands contemporary design capabilities, providing architectural solutions and still maintaining a slim and modern profile with units in sizes of up to 6000mm x 300mm.
Oversized glass provides innovative possibilities for architects to create and design something striking and different. Using large panels of glass minimises the use of structural elements creating a seamless glass façade, perfect to take advantage of stunning views.
Cuddington Mill, a recent project of IQ’s in Buckinghamshire featured a two storey atrium with floor-to-ceiling glazing linking the existing property with the new extension in order to take advantage of the idyllic views surrounding the property.
Using large elevations of glass really opens up fantastic design opportunities for ground floor, entrance, hallways and double height spaces. It is a great way to fill open-plan living space with vast amounts of natural light. Additionally oversized glass has high thermal insulation values, just like ordinary glazing, so you are not losing anything by incorporating large frameless panes of glass, just exquisite aesthetics to the design.
Various project examples, completed by IQ Glass, have incorporated large elevations of glass stretching over two storeys, creating inspiring pieces of architectural design.
IQ Glass recently completed a residential project featuring oversized glazing in Richmond, Greater London. The project, Kew Road is a traditional townhouse with a new glass extension to the rear of the property. Minimal windows sliding glass doors were integrated with a huge panel of oversized glazing stretching over two storeys, illuminating natural light off the bespoke glass stairwell.
Another project featuring oversized glass was a large open-plan family home in London,East Finchley. The huge elevation of glass runs the entire stretch of the rear extension adding a sense of space to the bespoke kitchen design.
