House of the Year 2012

The Gota Dam Residence, designed by Studio Seilern, has been awarded the House of the Year Award 2012 by World Architecture News.  IQ Glass supplied all specialist architectural glazing elements for the glass boxes spanning between the deck and roof including fixed structural elements and our exclusive Minimal Windows sliding doors.

IQ’s glazing offered a frameless window across the still reservoir and mountains beyond as well as the introduction of Minimal Windows for minimal sliding access to and from the glass boxes beneath the cantilevered roof.

This working house was praised by the panel of Ellie Stathaki (Architecture Editor of Wallpaper), Piers Gough (Founding Partner of CZWG Architects) and Alison Brooks (Founder of Alison Brooks Architects) for its fluid indoor-outdoors feel and stated that it was a perfect example of architecture integrating with nature. This “powerful design” was “beautifully executed”, blending with the “nature of the African Landscape”.
