Lawford Street Rear Glazed Extension

IQ Glass extended this terrace townhouse to the rear with a glazed extension,  featuring an L-shaped glass roof and sliding folding doors as the opening access.

The clients wanted a rear extension to extend their living space within this narrow home. They wanted something modern, something fresh and clean but functional for their busy lifestyle and also wished for a large amount of natural light input from above as the building and extension were bracketed on each side by close neighbouring buildings.

The contemporary design of the extension and glazing works well with the clients end wishes for a fresh look, wanting a clean and sharp end finish. Whilst thinking about the clients wishes for as much natural light as possible, a full glass roof was decided upon meaning the maximum amount of sunlight could be emitted into this typically shaded area.

The structural glass roof is supported by a number of lateral and interlocking glass beams

The structural glass roof stretches the length and breadth of the whole extension and is supported by a number of lateral and interlocking glass beams and spans around the structural corner junction.

The sliding folding doors allow for the whole rear face to but slid open effortlessly when needed, given direct access to the small but well used garden space. When closed the fantastic engineering and slim profiles mean that the view is minimally obstructed, and secured by high security conscious L-locks.

The full effect finish is a useable, minimal and lively eating and kitchen area.
