Finished Project: Hazelwell Road

Hazelwell Road

This rear renovation project from IQ Glass boasts clean symmetrical lines

This rear renovation project from IQ Glass boasts clean symmetrical lines with clear, transparent glass features giving an unblemished view to the lovely manicured gardens outside.

For the central access opening, SL70 hinged aluminium casement doors were used reaching to 3285mm high. The centrally meeting doors are used as the main access to the rear garden space for times when it is not necessary to open the full width of the sliding folding panels.

Matching SL70 system Sliding folding doors lie on either side of the square block pillars

Matching SL70 system Sliding folding doors lie on either side of the square block pillars reflecting symmetry through the exterior and interior design. Each panel set finishes slightly lower than its neighbouring aluminium casement doors, standing at 2840mm high. Frames on both the casement doors and the sliding folding systems were coloured uniformly in RAL7016 MATT.

The SL70 system with its full height, robust mounting posts mean that the system can reach heights unafforded by other sliding folding systems whilst complying with all relevant compliance testing. Each system is tested for high force, gale winds and rain as well as highly differing pressures and stand up the all tests vigorously.

The embedded floor track allows for step free living across the thresholds

The embedded floor track allows for step free living across the thresholds keeping an almost seamless interface between the internal and external floors and spaces.  The fantastic works done by the IQ Glass installation team and Ship Shape construction means that the interior and exterior stone floor finishes are flush with each other and across the track resulting barrier free living across the internal and external spaces.

The secure robust design on both casement doors and the sliding folding leaves include an integrated 3 point multi point with a cylinder key lock which ensures fantastic burglar resistance and security both internally and externally.

Above the casement sliding folding door openings lie three frameless rooflights

Above the casement sliding folding door openings lie three frameless rooflights, now a staple to most rear residential extensions. Keeping with the theme of symmetry in the design the IQ rooflights were placed centrally above each access opening. IQ’s approach is to keep the internal framing as minimal as possible and the external finish neat and clean. The back painted glass band around the external finish hides all supporting framework leaving you with a flush glazed effect. The rooflights spanning across the width of the rear space allow light into the room from above when the sun is not in an optimum position for the rear doors to allow light ingress.

Comments from the projects contract manager Richard: “IQ Glass supplied and installed a number of specialist glazing elements to this project according to the designs by the architect. The high quality of the products used and the high level of quality to our installation team’s work were a key element to the great working relationship between us and the contractors, having worked on previous projects with them. The end product is a well contrasted, beautiful home that is useable and will last for many years.”
