Gladys Road Project Uses Minimal Windows to Create Light

"At the rear IQ installed a set of minimal windows to fill the whole 4.4m back face "IQ Glass provided the high specification glazing elements to this residential refurbishment in West Hampstead. The property underwent a complete refurbishment with a focus on creating as much light into the space as possible.
At the rear IQ installed a set of Keller minimal windows sliding doors to fill the whole 4.4m back face of the ground floor out onto the small garden space. The system was a 3 track system, with the two right frames as sliding internal behind one fixed panel on the left. The frames stood at 2.4m high and were finished in anodised silver.
Above these Keller aluminium sliding doors is a fixed frameless rooflight. The glass panel is fitted onto a fixed up stand with an exterior back painted band around the perimeter of the glass panel to hide all fixings and framing beneath. Internally all the building finishes such as plastering etc can be brought further in to cover this band leaving a completely frameless internal effect.

On the roof space a roof terrace was installed off the upper living areas. Here, IQ engineered and installed the frameless glass balustrading around the perimeter. A translucent effect was adopted for the glass balustrades along the left side to protect neighbouring gardens from over viewing with low iron glass used on all other fronts to create an invisible glass barrier.
Using glass on these renovated London houses creates as much as possible from the minimal openings available due to the traditional terrace buildings.
