IQ Glass were instructed to provide technical glazing solutions to the pool area of this expensive refurbishment of the infamous 1 Cornwall Terrace.

Situated on the southwest corner of The Regent’s Park in London, the Grade 1 listed property was commissioned in 1811 by the Prince Regent (later King George IV) and designed by royal architect and planner Sir John Nash along with his assistant Decimus Burton. It has been home to nobility, admirals, generals and adventurers, public figures and was once a squat for hippies but in 2007 refurbishment started on the run of terrace houses, overseen by English Heritage.

IQ Glass designed, engineered and installed heated glass elements to the heated internal swimming pool of the opulent residence. Between the Sauna, Steam and Swimming Area three sections of heated glass were installed to stop any condensation build up in the glazing, keeping the views to the lavish living and swimming space clear.

On the side of the internal heated swimming pool, set in Portland stone, heated glass was installed in both the fixed structural openings as well as an aluminium casement door. The moving aspect, 735mm wide x 2024mm tall, had a heated glass panel to eliminate condensation build up between the swimming pool and the steam room. A flexible cable was designed to run through the hinge joints of the door to allow the item to be heated.

The two fixed units adjacent were both double glazed units due to the temperature difference between the pool and spa area. Both heated, the wiring and framework are all detailed neatly and hidden in the external room finishes to give a very frameless and neat appearance.

With a project of this stature attention to detailing and minimal, neat finishes are key. IQ’s in house team of designers and installers are well aware of the attention and care that needs to go into all projects at this level.

No. 1 Cornwall Terrace is the world’s most expensive terrace house, with seven bedrooms, 11 reception rooms to accompany the large grounds and swimming pool, state of the art security and user interfaces and is currently on the market for £100 Million.
